Increasing access to high-quality preschool for the children of LA County.
WHY UNIVERSAL PRESCHOOL?
Research shows that children who attend quality preschool programs are
more likely to succeed, in school and beyond, than those who do not.
Currently in Los Angeles County, only half of our four-year olds have
access to any preschool at all, LAUP is funding the creation of new
high-quality programs. LAUP is proud to be working in partnership with
government and the private sector to address community needs.
BENEFITS TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Parents of children in LAUP classrooms can feel confident that their
four-year olds are in preschool programs that have been evaluated for
quality. LAUP carefully reviews teacher qualifications, class sizes
and adult/child ratios, and the environment in which our children
explore and learn. All LAUP programs welcome parents into the classroom
as active and engaged partners in their child's preschool experience.
SHEA FAMILY PRESCHOOL
Shea Family Preschool is proud to be part of LAUP. We provide a 3-1/2
hour LAUP preschool program Monday thru Friday. There is a $900.00 parent investment fee required
by LAUP. I have broken this cost down to weekly payments of $25.00 per
week for nine months of the school year. (This is subject to change as
per LAUP) Parents that qualify may apply for a parents fee waver,
creating a free preschool experience for eligible families.
WHAT IS LAUP?
Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP) is a dynamic new public benefit
corporation created in 2004 and funded by First 5 LA- the commission
established by Proposition 10. LAUP's goal is to make voluntary,
high-quality preschool available to four-year-old children in Los Angeles
County, regardless of their family's income, race or religion by 2014.
